Erica Kaufman is the founder of Lila Yoga® and the owner of Lila Yoga Studios. Since State College Magazine introduced the category of Best Yoga Instructor, Erica has consistently been the winner for “Best of State College”. She began daily yoga & mindfulness meditation practices at age 9. Last year in India she won First Place in the World Yoga Championship for her age category. For 5 consecutive years she has been one of a handful of teachers from the United States who’s invited to teach at the World renowned International Yoga Festival in Northern India and often spends 2-3 months a year in India.
Erica has an MFA from Temple University. Both as a teacher and Studio owner, she has the highest level of registry offered with Yoga Alliance.
Erica has been on faculty at University of Denver, Juniata College, and Penn State University where she taught in the Kinesiology Department and often worked with student athletes. From 2008-2018 Erica was one of seven coaches working to train the Pennsylvania sheriffs department. They met 3 times a week for 15 weeks per training. Local and national corporations and departments, including the Pennsylvania Department of Police for PSU campuses state wide, have invited Erica to give a talk on mindfulness and meditation and the benefits of yoga.
Her teaching expertise and sophisticated gutsy openness awarded her Yoga Journal’s Karma Credit and features in publications such as The nationally syndicated newspaper, The Times of India.
As a mentor to teachers, leaders, management personnel, and community members alike, Erica tours the USA, Europe, Israel, and India teaching seminars on Mindfulness, Meditation, Lila Yoga® and Contact Improvisation.
