Stacy Moir Hall, RYT200 Bio for Lila Yoga
Starting in 2012, Stacy studied yoga intensively under the tutelage of Erica Kaufman, founder of Lila Yoga, for one year through the Lila Yoga Teacher Training program (LYTT200) and earned certification through Yoga Alliance as RYT200. As part of the program she traveled to Chennai, India to study yoga for 7 days at the Krishnamachrya Yoga Mandarin where she gained immense respect and gratitude for the teachings of Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, “father of modern yoga”. The idea of teaching to and for the individual was a valuable lesson. Stacy continues her studies of yoga through workshops and experiential based learning.
Stacy is also very influenced by mindfulness practices and Buddhism as a lifestyle. Her greatest influences are Thich Nhat Hanh and Matthieu Ricard.
Her classes emphasize breath and energy work, quality of mind, and connection to the spirit integrated with movement of and care for the body. Asana, pranayama, mindfulness, the ethics and philosophy of yoga (yoga lifestyle), and meditation are incorporated in her classes.
Experience teaching people of all ages and capabilities (including babies, children, teens, expecting women and new mothers, athletes, active and sedentary bodies, and those with special needs) has improved Stacy’s ability as a teacher to meet the needs of the students. She believes one of her greatest skills as a teacher is adaptability. Others may say her calming voice during guided deep relaxation (yoga nidra) is where her talent lies.
Her experiences of pregnancy and motherhood led to an interest in both prenatal yoga and postnatal Mom and Baby yoga. Stacy has been teaching prenatal yoga since early 2014, and postnatal class since late 2014 at Lila Yoga in downtown State College. It was through teaching prenatal yoga that Stacy was drawn to understanding the power of the mind and the importance of positive affirmation and mantra in yoga. “The mind is a powerful force that is at the heart of the yoga practice.” ~Stacy
Ayla and Huxley, Stacy’s daughter and son, and greatest teachers, remains the main sources of her joy, understanding, and inspiration. Stacy practices kids yoga with her children at home and also teaches at a local preschool (St.Paul’s Christian Preschool) introducing mindfulness & yoga to children ages 2-5. This may have been the origin of Stacy’s unique Art of Smiling yoga technique. Yes, she will ask you to smile as you practice yoga.
Stacy teaches weekly and hopes you may create the space to join her in this holistic practice of union, peace, and wellbeing.
